Introduction

Hey, folks. Fine day to write a nice introductory post, isn’t it? I’m glad you’re here. If you’re reading this then I must be doing something right. So, let me introduce myself.

Who am I?

I’m a software engineer by profession and a musician by passion. I’ve been using Fourths tuning for a while now and I’ve always wanted to have a place where I can share my thoughts and ideas around it. And that’s why I created this blog.

Purpose of the Site

Originally this site began as a web app for generating scales and chords in Fourths tuning. But I quickly realized that I wanted to do more than that. I want to provide robust modern tools that can help guitarists approach the instrument with more clarity and simplicity. Here’s a quick example of the fretboard visualization in action, featuring the C major scale:

Rationale

Fourths tuning is amazing, but many of the guitarist using it aren’t fully dedicated to educating people about the tuning. There are some great resources out there, but I believe there’s room for more. I want to help fill that gap, by collecting and sharing knowledge about Fourths tuning and music theory in general.

I’m hoping that by combining simple explanations with these generative/reactive diagrams, as above, we can start building a repository of knowledge that can help guitarists of all levels.

Conclusion

If you’re interested in learning more about Fourths tuning, music theory, or composing, then you’re in the right place. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on these topics and more in the coming days.

For now I just wanted to drop a simple introduction to the blog. As I’m preparing this post I’m sitting on a giant stack of changes to the site that I’m excited to share with you. I’m working on a new design, new features, and new content. Stay tuned for more!
